Our client had three main wishes for their period property: to gain an extra bedroom, to create a space the whole family could spend time in together, and to improve their home’s energy efficiency.
Working side by side to turn their vision into reality, we developed a scheme that used the property’s side return to create a light and spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and living area.
We also converted the home’s loft space to create an additional generous-sized bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. And by using a dual aspect design, we optimised natural light from both sides of the property to further open up the space.
Downstairs, the use of natural light was at play again as we installed a series of roof lights and large bi-fold doors. This bright and airy space provides the perfect backdrop to enjoy and showcase the beautiful new Devol kitchen.
As our clients were big fans of the outdoors, it was crucial the materials we selected not only created visual impact but were also hard-wearing enough for muddy boots (and enthusiastic wet dogs!).
With sustainability close to their hearts, our clients were keen to improve the energy efficiency of their home. We achieved this by super-insulating the house and installing solar panels on the garage roof, along with a charging point for an electric car.
The result is a light and bright future-proof home tailored for this family and their furry friends to enjoy for years to come.
